How To Creating Your Own Wedding Playlist
Creating your wedding playlist is super important because you want your Vancouver wedding to be the best for you and your guests! This is YOUR special day, so make sure you have all of your favourite songs, especially the ones both you and your partner love!
If you decide to hire a professional DJ, they will be armed with a lengthy playlist of crowd favourites, but you’ll definitely want to give them a mini playlist of your own top song requests. If you decide not to hire a DJ because it is out of your wedding budget, you should inquire with your venue or a Vancouver wedding planner to find out if they’ll provide a speaker system that is big and loud enough for the wedding reception. With that being said, your wedding playlist should be over 120 songs, but finding that many songs on your own can be difficult. A good idea is to reach out to your family and friends to see what type of songs they would like to hear at your Vancouver wedding as well.
Consider the age of your guests and the different categories to have: slow, romantic, dance, throwback, and a mix of everything else.
If you’re having a traditional Vancouver wedding, you will most likely have a first dance, a father and daughter dance, and a mother and son dance. These dances are very special and what makes them even more special, is the choice of song! For a traditional Vancouver wedding ceremony, you’ll need song ideas for the processional, bride’s entrance, signing of the register, and recessional. Other key songs to choose for your Vancouver wedding reception include the grand entrance, cake cutting, and bouquet and garter toss.
For those of you who are big partiers and love to break it down on the dance floor, you definitely know you will be adding a lot of party songs to your wedding playlist! Once it is party time and everyone has had a few drinks, everyone is ready to dance. We love when the wedding party has a special song and they hit the dance floor to sing and dance together. OR even better, when they surprise guests with a high-energy choreographed dance. So much fun!
PSA: if ANY CHILDREN OR ELDERS ARE ATTENDING your wedding, make sure to play the clean versions of songs or just pick and choose what you think is appropriate.
Everyone loves a good throwback song at a Vancouver wedding, so you don’t want to forget some of those! There are so many different types of throwback songs, especially depending on your generation and the wide range of generations among the guests.
